Temporary HGV Class 2 Drivers in Ilford

Rigid-lorry cover for Ilford and London & the South East: Class 2 drivers booked around your rounds, your tail-lifts and your delivery windows.

London & the South East

Rigid drivers for Ilford operators

Multi-drop work needs pace and care in equal measure; we brief for both.

Across London & the South East, rigid rounds start from sites such as London Gateway and the Thames Gateway, Park Royal, Enfield and the Heathrow airfreight belt. We ask where the vehicle is based and what the drops look like before anything else.

For Ilford operators we cover single days, full weeks and ongoing rigid assignments. Planned cover can be booked in advance.

Depots across London & the South East are served by the M25 orbital, the A13 and A406, Heathrow Airport and the deep-water ports at London Gateway and Tilbury. Their rigids deliver to the towns in between.

Rigids over 12 tonnes need a valid HGV safety permit to operate in Greater London. Every lorry over 3.5 tonnes also falls under the Low Emission Zone, so the vehicle is checked first.

Where Class 2 cover gets used

Rigid work, matched to the driver who knows it.

How it works

Booking a Category C driver

You send the round

Vehicle, number of drops, delivery windows and start time. A short form or call is enough.

We match the driver

We look for Category C drivers who have worked similar rounds and want that pattern.

Short-notice requests

Urgent cover gets a straight answer on what we can confirm.

Rigid planning

What to include in a Class 2 request

Merchants, wholesalers and store networks often need Category C cover for a set period: holidays, a busy season or a new customer. Temporary drivers fill that period and no more.

Many Class 2 rounds from Ilford run to delivery windows. Tell us the windows and we brief the driver on the order of drops.

For a Class 2 request, include:

  • The body type: curtainside, box, tipper, flatbed or tanker
  • How many drops and the delivery windows
  • Any ADR or HIAB tickets required
  • Who the driver reports to at the depot
Compliance

Licence, CPC and tacho

Category C covers vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg. We check that entitlement on the licence, review endorsements and confirm the Driver CPC card is in date.

Early starts suit some drivers far better than others. We confirm the driver is comfortable with the start time before they are put forward.

Class 2 FAQs

Good to know

Can you cover multi-drop rigid rounds?

Yes. Tell us how many drops, the delivery windows and whether the vehicle has a tail-lift.

Do you supply drivers with a HIAB ticket?

Yes, where the work needs one. Tell us the lorry-loader and the type of loads so we match the right ticket.

How much notice do you need?

Planned cover is easiest with a few days' notice. Short-notice requests get a straight answer on what we can confirm.

Can you supply more than one Class 2 driver?

Yes. Tell us how many drivers you need and whether they start on the same day.

Can drivers handle customer paperwork?

Yes. Tell us what the driver collects at each drop (signatures, returns or delivery notes) and we brief them on it.
