Category C drivers for Halifax rounds

Temporary Category C drivers who have run this kind of round before.

Much of the Class 2 work across Yorkshire supplies retail and grocery distribution, rail-linked intermodal operators, manufacturing supply chains and regional 3PLs. Those rounds reward drivers who handle customers well at the door.

Retailers, wholesalers and merchants across Yorkshire book Class 2 cover for holidays, sickness and busy weeks. Tell us how many drops and how long the booking runs.

Depots across the M62/M1 corridor, iPort Doncaster, Wakefield Europort and the Aire Valley run early rigid departures. The first drop sets the pace for the day.

Rigid planning

What we ask about the round

Across Yorkshire, rigid work swings with construction activity, retail peaks and the weather. Temporary drivers let the fleet flex without changing the payroll.

Store deliveries across Yorkshire & the Humber follow a tight routine at the back door: booking-in, unloading and returns. A driver who knows the routine keeps the store on schedule.

For a Class 2 request, include:

  • How many drops and the delivery windows
  • How many days or weeks of cover
  • Any site access or unloading restrictions
  • Whether the driver collects signatures, returns or paperwork
Compliance

Checked before the first drop

Driver CPC means 35 hours of periodic training every five years. We confirm it is current, along with category C entitlement, the tacho card and right to work.

Manual handling, site safety and customer contact are part of most rigid rounds. We say so to the driver before they accept.

Class 2 FAQs

Class 2 questions

What licence does a Class 2 driver need?

Category C, which covers vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg, plus a current Driver CPC and a digital tachograph card.

Can you cover multi-drop rigid rounds?

Yes. Tell us how many drops, the delivery windows and whether the vehicle has a tail-lift.

How much notice do you need?

Planned cover is easiest with a few days' notice. Short-notice requests get a straight answer on what we can confirm.

Can you cover tipper work?

Yes, where the driver has tipper experience. Tell us the material, the sites and whether a weighbridge is involved.

Can you cover Saturday rounds?

Yes. Saturday and bank holiday rounds can be booked in the same way as weekday cover.
