Temporary HGV Class 2 Drivers in Sheffield

Rigid-lorry cover for Sheffield and Yorkshire & the Humber: Class 2 drivers booked around your rounds, your tail-lifts and your delivery windows.

South Yorkshire

Rigid drivers for Sheffield operators

The licence is the minimum; experience of the delivery environment is the brief.

Merchant and construction drops around Sheffield mean rough ground, cranes and unloading on site. Say so in the brief and we match accordingly.

Tipper and bulk work has its own demands — weighbridges, tipping sites and loose loads. Drivers we book for it have done it before.

Rigid rounds from the Advanced Manufacturing Park, iPort Doncaster nearby and the M1 corridor parks deliver into town centres, retail parks and building sites across South Yorkshire.

Sheffield operates a class C Clean Air Zone, which charges HGVs that fall short of the emission standard — rigids included. We check the vehicle before city-centre rounds are booked.

Rigid planning

What to include in a Class 2 request

A driver who already knows tail-lift work or site deliveries needs less supervision on the first day and gets the round done safely.

Drinks, food service and chilled rounds combine early starts with heavy handling and customer contact. The brief says what the driver will lift and where.

For a Class 2 request, include:

  • How many drops and the delivery windows
  • How many days or weeks of cover
  • Whether the driver collects signatures, returns or paperwork
  • Any ADR or HIAB tickets required
Compliance

Licence, CPC and tacho

Category C covers vehicles over 3,500kg with a trailer up to 750kg. We check that entitlement on the licence, review endorsements and confirm the Driver CPC card is in date.

Manual handling, site safety and customer contact are part of most rigid rounds. We say so to the driver before they accept.
