Temporary HGV Class 1 Drivers in Whitby

Night trunks, container runs and distribution work around Whitby, covered by experienced Class 1 drivers.

Humber & East Yorkshire

Keeping Whitby trunk routes running

Artic work is only as good as the driver who turns up on time for it.

Operators across the Humber & East Yorkshire run curtainsiders, boxes and fridges along the M62, the A63, the A15 and the ports of Hull, Immingham and Goole. The trailer type is the first thing we ask about.

Busy months across the Humber & East Yorkshire often mean one more night trunk than the rota can staff. A temporary Class 1 driver covers it without a permanent hire.

Operators with units based across the Port of Hull and the A63 corridor estates often need cover at short notice when a trunk driver is off.

Work we staff

Class 1 cover across the main types of artic work.

How it works

Three steps to cover

You send the brief

Trailer type, route profile, start time and how many nights. Two minutes on a form or a call is enough.

Planned cover in advance

Holidays and known peaks can be booked weeks ahead so the rota is settled early.

Urgent cover handled fast

Short-notice requests get a straight answer on what we can confirm.

Class 1 planning

Before you book a C+E driver

Some Class 1 bookings are a single night. Others settle into a regular pattern that runs for months. Both begin with the same request.

Chilled and frozen work adds temperature checks and fridge-unit monitoring to the job. Say so in the brief and we look for drivers who have run reefers.

For a Class 1 request, include:

  • Where the tractor unit is based
  • The trailer type: curtainsider, box, fridge, flatbed or tanker
  • Day, night or tramping work
  • Double-deck, drawbar or walking-floor experience if needed
Compliance

Before the keys change hands

For dangerous goods we also confirm the ADR classes held and their renewal date. The standard checks — C+E, Driver CPC, tachograph card and right to work — apply to every booking.

Past the licence check, we look at recent artic work: trailer types, distances and whether the driver has done nights lately.

Class 1 FAQs

Your Class 1 questions

What does a Class 1 driver need to hold?

Category C+E entitlement, a current Driver CPC — 35 hours of periodic training every five years — and a digital tachograph card, plus ADR for dangerous goods work.

Can you cover container haulage?

Yes. Tell us the port or rail terminal, the booking pattern and the trailer type so we match a driver who knows the routine.

Can you supply several Class 1 drivers at once?

Yes. Tell us how many drivers you need and whether they start together or in stages.

Do you supply drivers for chilled and frozen work?

Yes. Tell us it is reefer work so we match a Class 1 driver who has monitored a fridge unit and handled temperature paperwork.

What trailer types can your drivers pull?

Tell us the trailer (curtainsider, box, fridge, flatbed, double-deck or tanker) and we match a driver who has worked with it.
