HGV Class 1 / C+E driver recruitment

Class 1 cover for trunking, haulage and distribution

Temporary Class 1 drivers for the articulated work that moves freight between hubs, ports and customers.

Class 1 is the licence behind articulated work. On GOV.UK's definition, category C+E lets a driver take a category C vehicle with a trailer over 750kg — the tractor unit and trailer combinations that run the trunk routes, the container work and most general haulage.

Our Class 1 driver recruitment covers the full range of that work: night trunking between distribution centres, tramping with nights out, container haulage to and from the ports and day work on general haulage. Tell us the trailer type, the route profile and the start time and we match a driver who has done that work before.

Licence definition: GOV.UK — driving licence categories.

Temporary Class 1 drivers — FAQs

Do you supply temporary HGV Class 1 drivers?

Yes. We supply temporary HGV Class 1 (C+E) drivers for trunking, tramping, container haulage, general haulage and distribution work — single shifts, short-term cover and ongoing assignments across the UK.

What does a Class 1 driver need to hold?

Category C+E entitlement, a current Driver CPC (35 hours of periodic training every five years) and a digital tachograph card. Dangerous goods work also needs the right ADR classes. We check each one before a driver starts.

Can you cover nights and tramping work?

Yes. Tell us the shift pattern, whether the work involves nights out and the trailer type. We match drivers who want that pattern and have run it before.

Do you also recruit permanent Class 1 drivers?

Yes. Our permanent HGV and LGV driver recruitment desk places Class 1 drivers straight onto your payroll when you want to fill a seat for good.
